From Movie to Mobile Game
Upin & Ipin is a well-known animated show with the aim of educating children to appreciate etika values and good virtues. It stars the eponymous duo Upin and Ipin, 5-year-old twins living with their older sister and grandmother, and the rest of their friends in the quiet village of Duren Ambruk. The success of the show led to it having several movies, and one of them was Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal (Upin & Ipin: The Lone Gibbon Kris). The plot centers on how the twins and their friends come across a mystical kris, which is a Malay dagger, and slot bonus new member 100 di awal how it magically transports them to the kingdom of Inderaloka. While trying to find their way back, they encounter several classic Malaysian folklore characters and everyone eventually bands together to save Inderaloka from the evil Raja Bersiong. Riding off on the success of the movie, LC Games Development Inc. released a mobile game which consists of several chapters of story and gameplay about what happened in Keris Siamang Tunggal.

The Other Side of the Story
Here in Chapter 2 of the epic quest, the children have all been separated after getting transported to Inderaloka. While in Chapter 1, you played as Upin with three of his friends, this time, you’ll be playing as Ipin and must explore the fields of this new and strange place alongside the other three children, Mail, Fizi, and Susanti. Similar to the previous two games, you’ll be moving in an isometric view on the map most of the time and have to check out everything you can to move forward in the story. Just like with Upin’s side, you’ll also be meeting a popular Malaysian myth character, who’ll be introducing you to the land of Inderaloka and its current situation. The gameplay is mostly about running around and figuring out little puzzles to be able to access the next part of the map, and the one mini-game this chapter has is a running platformer in which you must escape some nasty bugs chasing you while activating some plants that will eat them up.

Next Part Please
While this game can be fun for fans of the show and the movie, you might be better off seeing the movie on its own. The idea of chopping up parts of the story just to make several little games called chapters can be enjoyable—if only there’s enough material to make each of the games long and interesting on its own. Unfortunately, while the prologue may have garnered attention, Chapter 2 fell just as hard as Chapter1 because of the heavy emphasis on the cutscenes. There was hardly anything different in terms of gameplay between the two, so it comes off as boring and far too short. Someone might argue that the chapters are trying to tell the story of the movie in little teasers for those who haven’t watched yet, but this is just a poor way of advertising it to them.
